OPENChannel needs your support now!

Melbourne - May 2004

"OPENChannel IS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THEVICTORIAN FILM & TV INDUSTRY"

"The role of OPENChannel within the Victorian film communityis absolutely pivotal The threat to OPENChannel is a threat to emerging talent in Melbourne."
"As a producer I personally refer people to OPENChannel on a weekly basis "We must find a way to continue to support this essential organization."
   Melanie Coombs and Adam Elliot

Dear OPENChannel members, supporters and friends

The future of OPENChannel is underthreat.  Right now we urgently need your support to continue.

Maintaining all of OPENChannel's activities on a non-profit basis is a continuous challenge.  It requires OPENChannel to juggle funding from various sources and to generate a substantial amount of income from our own activities.

A crisis point in funding, dramatic increase in rent and an urgent need to re-locate to new premises mean that OPENChannel immediately needs to raise some additional funds to secure its future.  We have canvassed Film Victoria and the Australian Film Commission. We are also seeking urgent assistance from the Victorian Arts Minister, Mary Delahunty.

We ask you to join us in ensuring a strong and viable future for OPENChannel.

If OPENChannel has been able to assist you in any way we ask youto:

WRITE A LETTER OF SUPPORT TO OPENChannel URGENTLY
The letter should outline how OPENChannel has assisted you and why you feel it important for OPENChannel to continue.

We ask you to send the letters to us via email toinfo@openchannel.org.au or by fax to
03 9419 1404.   We will then forward the letters to the Arts Minister's office and our funding organisations.

SUPPORT OUR FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

We are also commencing a Fundraising Campaign, asking for pledges of financial support to OPENChannel. The Pledge Campaign will be run in stages and our first target is to raise $60,000 in the short term to ensure our continued operation. The next stage is to raise funds to cover the cost of relocation to anew premises and we envisage this may require $200,000.

All donations over $2.00 are Tax Deductible. We do not require your money at this stage and will only call on it once we achieve ourtarget of $60,000.  We do, however, require your pledge and if possible your commitment to support us by Friday 7 May 2004.

You can request a pledge form from OPENChannel on 03 9419 5111 or by emailing info@openchannel.org.au.  A pledge form will be available from the OPENChannel website shortly.

OTHER ASSISTANCE YOU CAN PROVIDE

In addition to letters and funds, we also require volunteers, partners and those who can offer valuable assistance to us help us raise funds.

Please let us know if you are you able to:
