John Radel Wins Cinematography Award in California

At the 10th anniversary of the Temecula Valley International Film Festival in California, the Jury honoured Australian Cinematographer John Radel with the Best Cinematography Award for his work on the short film Black Berries. In competition with some of the best feature and short films from the US and around the world including countries such as France, India and Italy.
Locally Black berries has also won the critic’s circle award for best cinematography and was screened at the 2004 Cinema Des Antipodes, at Cannes This year.
Shot in 35mm Anamorphic Black Berries is a dark ‘coming of age’ story about two 12-year-old girls from different cultural backgrounds. Written and directed by Ema Mulholland, Black Berries will be screening before the feature Documentary My Flesh And Blood at Hoyts Cinemas in Sydney and Melbourne from the 21st of October other states to follow.
