AFTRS Applications Close September 7

Do you have a passion for filmmaking or broadcasting - and the talent and drive to become a creative leader?

Prospective students have until September 7, 2004 to send their applications in.

The Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) is on the hunt for new and creative talent and is accepting applications for its full-time film, television, digital media and radio programs for 2005.

The School runs an intensive program of full-time courses that cover the full gamut of film making including: Cinematography, Costume Design, Production Design, Digital Media, Visual Effects, Computer Animation, Directing, Documentary (next intake 2006), Editing, Location Sound, Producing, Screen Composition, Screenwriting, Sound, Design, as well as Factual Television, Research and Radio.

"This is an opportunity for budding film makers and broadcasters to learn their craft with cutting edge facilities and teaching staff who are industry experts," he said.

"Our aim is to recognise and develop new and emerging talent, and to provide industry professionals with opportunities to gain additional skills and assist them in their creative and professional development.

"AFTRS is our national education and training institution with a strong global reputation and we are proud of our record of producing some of Australia’s finest film makers.

"More than 95 per cent of AFTRS full-time graduates are employed in key creative roles in the industry within 12 months of graduating."

Over the past 31 years AFTRS graduates have gone on to become some of Australia's most successful film and program makers including: Oscar winner Andrew Lesnie (cinematographer, The Lord of The Rings Trilogy), AFI-Award winners Sue Brooks and Alison Tilson (director and screenwriter, Japanese Story), Philip Noyce (director, Rabbit Proof Fence), Dion Beebe (cinematographer, Chicago), PJ Hogan (director and screenwriter Muriel's Wedding and My Best Friend's Wedding), Oscar winner Jane Campion (director and writer, The Piano, An Angel at my Table), Peter Andrikidis (director, Grass Roots), Robert Marchand (director, The Potato Factory), and Amanda Higgs (producer, The Secret Life of Us).
