ACS gets the INSIDE story on Miller

Sydney - 5 November 2003

Miller Professional Products recently opened their doors of their Artarmon office & factory to the ACS, to showcase not only their product range, but show members the inside story on Miller Tripods and Fluid heads.

About 30 members attended this informative evening, where they were taken on a guided tour of the operation, from product conception, utilising the latest in 3D CAD software, through to prototyping, component production and assembly.

The Miller team showed off their factory where a number of components were precision made and tested on the premises. We were also shown the factory floor where the assembly of the tripod and head products happen.

Afterwards we were treated to a selection of photos and equipment from the Miller collection, that have been donated back to Miller for their 50th anniversary next year

Miller have been designing and delivering professional fluid heads and tripods for film and television since 1954.

Miller hold the first patent for fluid head design for film cameras issues in 1946 and can proudly lay claim to the titles of leader and innovator in the field of contemporary camera support.

Before the introduction of the fluid head system in 1946, camera operator's needed bulky and expensive gear driven assemblies. The fluid head revolutionised film-making by giving operators the freedom to shoot more creatively, and reduced production costs of film that previously ended up on the cutting room floor.

Miller products are proudly Australian made from components made both on the Miller premises and local suppliers.

Miller has been a proud supporter of the Australian Cinematographers Society for a number of years.
