Tasmania tops the awards in Hollywood

With financial support from the Department of State Growth’s ‘Advanced Manufacturing Marketing Expansion Program’ the Ignite Digi team of Chris Fox and Tom Waugh headed over to Cinegear to showcase their ecosystem of cinema camera accessories, all designed and manufactured in Tasmania.

Cinegear is the premier annual exhibition for high end film and TV equipment, taking place on the lots at Paramount Studios in Hollywood on 1-2 June 2018.

Their newest product Gimbal mate has just been announced as the joint winner of the Best camera accessory at the Cinegear Technical Awards.

“It’s our first big exhibition, so we are very proud to have won this prestigious award” said designer and engineer Chris Fox. “Thank you to Cinegear, the judges, the Tasmanian government for their support and to all of our customers for pushing us!”

The system was initially developed out of Ignite Digi’s need to work quickly on small corporate and commercial shoots with Tasmanian local director/cinematographer Joshua Lamont.
Before the system, it would take around 10 minutes to change between gimbal and handheld/tripod mode, now it’s under one minute!

Opening up their online store and connecting with customers via social media, sales of Ignite Digi’s unique quick mode change system have been growing over the last 12 months and Gimbal mate is an evolution of that system.

Previously only those with Freefly Systems’ MoVI Pro gimbal could utilise their system to allow fast tool less changes between gimbal and handheld/tripod modes with a single camera body. Now with Gimbal mate those with DJI Ronin 2 gimbals can also utilise the quick change system.

Another added benefit is customers can swap the camera package between MoVI Pro and Ronin 2 gimbals quickly and without tools.

Saving time on set saves money and the Gimbal mate system saves a lot of time!
