David Parer ACS - 2004 Cinematographer of the Year

Victorian David Parer ACS has been awarded the Milli Award for Australian Cinematographer of the year for his documentary Platypus: Worlds Strangest Animal, at the Australian Cinematographers Society 2004 National Awards held on the Gold Coast tonight.
Parer commented on winning the award "It was our dream to tackle the platypus" It’s one of the Animals we have fallen in love with." We meaning David and his wife Elizabeth Parer-Cook. This is David's second Milli Award after winning it previously in 1999 for "The Dragons of Galapagos"
David also took out the Golden tripod in the Widlife and Nature category.

Special Guest for the evening is 2004 Oscar winner for Best Cinematography Russell Boyd ACS, who paid tribute to the recent passing of Tim Burstall. A man of few words, Russell Boyd spoke about the craft of Cinematography "Practising Cinematography is a great things, but to be inspired by others is great too" There’ll be winners tonight, but no loosers so keep trying.."
